CEDRIC CARSUS separating, concluding;

custom spec; WIP
This is a pitch. If it doesn't work, totally cool. I've got backup plans (wow what if you could throw an anchor shield like in popular video game Dragon Age Veilguard). I probably won't pull the trigger immediately.
- Based off Spirit Warrior / Seekers inviting Faith spirits
- Flavour is more interesting to me than the details of abilities
IC Explanation:
The current thinness of the Veil, and Cedric's growing Anchor, will bring him to the attention of a Spirit of Purpose. I've hinted at this in tags a little. He wants to leave the Order, and it'll make him an offer. If he quits, it'll help him keep helping.
- Is it temporary possession, or channeling (a la spirit healer) or something else? I'd have fun leaving it vague IC, if possible, but I'm also cool to commit.
- It's beginning voluntarily, regardless. I'm not looking to rip off Lucanis' bit.
- I like fallout, but I know that stuff has to stay on rails to keep Cedric playable. Happy to hew to whatever would be necessary, there.
Purpose
- A spirit, not a demon, but that distinction doesn't always seem to mean a lot.
- The Purpose we meet in lore is both knightly, and not nice.
- While it's starting off chill, it's an alien being, and less flexible than a mortal
- Holding back, taking extended vacays, and lying about his beliefs might become more difficult for Cedric long-term
Limitations
- Someone who can sense spirits in the waking world would notice its presence when it exerts itself, or in the Crossroads.
- Makes his eyes glow in an obvious way, to disincentivize its use in all combat.
- Anti-magic abilities can shut all of this down.
- It doesn't work if the spooky ghost is mad at him that day.
Abilities:
RELENTLESS PURPOSE | Passive
- While possessed, Cedric can briefly push past physical limitations and injury.
- This isn't "healing it", this is "ignoring it" — if you try to fight on a broken leg, you're going to have a bad time in a minute when the spirit goes home.
SHROUD | Active
- Based on Beyond the Veil.
- While active, Cedric appears partially incorporeal, as a shifting cloak of the Fade makes him much more difficult to hit.
- He's not Fenris: He can't control the area that's affected, and he won't phase through a wall or whatever. It's just a lot harder to stab him than usual.
+ HUNGRY GHOST | Passive
- Based on Soulbrand.
- While Shrouded, Cedric displaces energy from incoming spells into the Fade.
- This grants some resistance to magical attacks. It's not as reliable or complete as lyrium, Seeker abilities, or dispelling.
ONE FOOT IN | Active
- Fade step lite. Only works if Shrouded, and can't be used to exit a fight.
I'm interested in adding to this with his future remaining spec slot down the line, if there's room without unbalancing him.

On the warehouse shift when I heard an argument with Jonah. Four strangers (human, three anchors) wanted on the boat. Sent him off without us. Said they were reporting from a journey, and knew my name. Might’ve known Strange. One was Orlesian, couldn’t place the rest.
Told me that had to be:The works. Something bad at the Gallows, so they gotta cross urgent. Then the big one got in my face. She didn’t go for my knife, and no one pulled a weapon. No spells. Orlesian took off, but otherwise they been cooperative.

Don’t sound or look like they belong together. Makes me think of Rifters, or someone trying to act it. But if there’s something on, they got awful good liars, and an awful shit approach. Be easier to just send "new recruits".
